Not to be too snide, but I have had to deal with this practically
forever on Xubuntu (Linux).

I don't find it to be a problem, just an idiosyncrasy I've become accustomed to.

(Rant: I have not had Windows in a native install on any of my
machines since 2007, and now have it only as a backup on my laptop
because it came with Windows - BIOS updates work better in Windows on
my LG. I recently abandoned Windows altogether - too much of a pain
with slow updates, monthly or more frequent S-L-O-W reboots, and
fundamental unreliability. LO on Linux is so much easier for me to use
than MSO, which I also own and detest. End of rant. :-)
