I don't need that kind of basic stuff. I need to know why, when I go to
Manage Templates, the option to Reset Default Text Document is grayed
out even though the name of my template is right there in the dialog box.

Document templates and Styles are two very different things.

PS:
My template shows up when I open "Manage Templates," but it doesn't
show up in the Styles pane of a Writer document. And the "Manage
Templates" window doesn't show any option to make my template the
default template. The "Manage" dropdown show a "Reset Default Text
Document," but it's greyed out.

I've got a template I've built that I use for almost all of my
writing. I have set it as my default template.
But for some reason the default setting keeps getting getting
removed so that when I open a new Writer document it opens with some
generic template rather than the one I've built.
What can be causing that?
I recently updated to LO 7.3.6.2 from a 7.3.5.x version. Hopefully
that shouldn't have unset my default template, should it? What else
might be causing this to happen? I think also it happened previous
to my update.
I'm running Ubuntu 20.04.5 LTS on a Dell XPS.
Thanks.
