Instead, due to the realities of market pressures and the scourge of poor design and coding, Java has become at least as bad a word in the I.T. community as ActiveX -- possibly worse. Plus it's a PITA to code in, has horrible load times, and "write once, run anywhere" never did become fully real. It was bad enough under Sun. Now that Oracle owns it, I think it's doomed.
