Are these optional hyphens? If so, they won't print, so you don't
really need to remove them. You can see that in Page Preview.
You can suppress their display in either of two ways:
o Untick View| Field Shadings.
o Untick Tools | Options... | LibreOffice Writer | Formatting Aids |
Display of | Custom hyphens. (On the Mac, that's LibreOffice |
Preferences | LibreOffice Writer | Formatting Aids | Display of |
Custom hyphens.)
