Please let us know how its going.  Did switching themes solve it?  

Without really looking into it much it kinda sounds to me like you have only 1 
screen set-up where you really need to dual-monitor the machine running the 
slideshow.  I'm not sure how to do that on a Mac tbh.  Also Impress might need 
to be told to put the slides on 1 screen (the projector) and keep the rest of 
Impress on the other screen (your main screen).  

I think the default is to take a small 800by600 area of the top left of your 
main monitor and project that area.  That's a bit sub-optimal.  it's better to 
take advantage of dual-monitor set-ups so that you have 2 separate screens.
