On Ubuntu's Launchpad pseudo-forums for questions about sound issues i got used to asking the standard questions Mark Rijckenburg would usually ask, to save him the time. In the same 1st response i would casually mention it worth unplugging and re-plugging the little green plug and the speaker's power-supply and switch the speakers on again. Just doing that seemed to fix around 60%-80% of problems! As a menu item it would need to say something like "Reset LibreOffice back to factory defaults" but a few people might get an unexpectedly more pure set of defaults than they originally had because the version in their distro's repo or versions on unofficial sites or Cd/Dvds might have already been tweaked.
