Hi Ruben, thanks for your input! Using the guest.cpu.features is very interesting and I'll take a look during further testing.
I'm so confused about the issue and I'm wondering whether the error message might be somehow misleading, since "ht" seems quite important and it also appears that it actually is available on all hosts. The flag is also visible on all VMs (those residing an not upgraded hosts, and on VMs which are freshly started on upgraded hosts). The changelog of the qemu-kvm package versions (9.1.0-15 on OL9.6 and 9.1.0-29 on OL9.7) is quite long and currently I'm trying to figure out whether it is a bug or a important change which is here to stay. I'm adding the changelog between both versions - I think it's quite a lot :-D * Tue Sep 16 2025 Jon Maloy <[email protected]> - 9.1.0-29 - kvm-target-i386-Expose-IBPB-BRTYPE-and-SBPB-CPUID-bits-t.patch [RHEL-17614] -
