USB Passthrough

Hello,
     Is there a way to set up a USB passthrough for a VM on cloudstack?  I need 
to connect a Smartcard reader to one of my VMs.  I tried setting it up through 
the libvirt configuration, but found when I reboot the VM that configuration 
gets wiped out, so I'm not sure how to proceed.
