activemq-core is more than sufficient; I believe the message at the top of the thread at http://activemq.2283324.n4.nabble.com/AMQ-1703-Create-lightweight-ActiveMQ-client-jar-td4653093.html covers the Maven exclusions required to get the bare minimum of dependencies. Greg
