By default ActiveMQ uses the $ACTIVEMQ_HOME/data folder. The persistence adapter typically writes into $ACTIVEMQ_HOME/data/kahadb, whereas non-persistent msgs may potentially be written to $ACTIVEMQ_HOME/data/tmp.
