For me it's as simple as copying the data/kahadb directory in the ActiveMQ base directory. But I stop ActiveMQ before making a copy of the directory to ensure that the database is in a consistent state. Unfortunately I don't know if this is necessary or if there is a better way to backup KahaDB.
