sorry, I got bumped from irc before I could find the issue I had in
mind. It is: https://issues.apache.org/activemq/browse/AMQ-2020, but
testing is the only way to verify that is resolved your issue. If you
can produce a test cae for the behaviour you describe, please open a
jira issue if it fails on trunk.

> I'm using a large number of consumers (>20) for a single queue in my
> application, and at times of high volume it appears somehow that the number
> of pending messages count goes negative, and the messages received number is
> higher than the messages sent number. Which obviously explains the negative
> count, but why/how would the messages received exceed the messages sent?

> I'm on v5.1, and in the IRC channel I was told this most likely is fixed in
> the trunk or 5.3 snapshot. However, I need to convince my Sysadmin to
> upgrade. Anyone know the bug report that matches my problem? I found
> http://issues.apache.org/activemq/browse/AMQ-1940, but I am not clearing the
> purging a queue, it just simply happens during normal processing.
