If logging is turned up to DEBUG level then quite a bit of configuration and execution tracing is shown; there's more in the logs besides ERROR level stuff. If the only difference between machines is that security thing you're talking about, then yeah, I'd suspect that has something to do with it. Can you turn it off and see if it makes a difference?
