It \*does\* provide all that's \*necessary\*.

That doesn't mean there isn't other useful
functionality provided by something else. You can use
S2 without Spring just fine. I sure wouldn't (or a
Spring-equivalent) though, the dependency injection
alone is more than worth the price of admission.
