We are using quite the same setup as Mark and have had no problems at all. I've also been a member of the Webwork forums for quite some time and I don't recall anyone having problems using Spring 2 instead of Spring 1.

At least set up a test bed and play with it. I'm using Spring 2, JPA, Spring's new xml configuration, and likely other things I'm forgetting and all is fine.
