Heh, IMO, OO is a tool, not a goal. In 99% of the applications I have worked with/on in the last 20+ years, the database far outlived any of the applications, because that is where the true value is. The application is (as are other things like reporting and data mining tools) simply a tool to access the data (to extract the value from it). My mantra: Get the data model right and it will be easy to make the application work with it.
