Even java developers should know about  sed and find
:)
If not, friendly system administrator could write
small script  in about 10 minutes ( do not forget to
give him a beer ) 

As for "mid iteration" - it's just a question of
project organisation.

I affraid there is nothing bout backward
compatibility. 
Struts 1.x is stuck in 2001, and webwork was actively
developed over the time.   And I hope that there will
be no effort to achieve this compatibility. 
( or I'll fork webwork myself off latest state ) 

Struts 1.x shall be allowed to die and rest in peace.
