Most the committers would suggest that using JSTL is a better way to go, and the volunteers have been relunctant to extend the libraries in ways that overlap with JSTL. But if there are other volunteers ready, willing, and able to maintain the library in the Apache Way, we've had a help wanted sign up for a very long time.
