You are absolutely right Jack. I was just trying to say, that discussing
different clustering strategies may
be not of interest for the struts_user group, as it sure not something
everyone is dealing with on a daily basis here. 
But you are right saying, that one can overwrite storage methods to use some
persistence available in his special
environment and still have the framework working :-)
