The basic filter architecture, and ViewController, are reasonably
cooked in my mind -- but we won't know for sure until some people try
to build real apps with it. I'm less concerned about the
functionality part of this (it's got unit tests that prove the right
event handlers get called at the right time) than I am about the
usability from a developer's perspective. If it becomes so easy to
right event handlers for individual pages that you pretty much forget
everything you know about the servlet API, then we've got it right
:-).

The DialogController stuff, on the other hand, should not be assumed
to be stable. However, it's also an area I'd love to hear some
feedback on.

That all being said, Shale is currently a pre-1.0 API, and you can't
assume API stability yet -- we only get one chance to freeze that for
1.0, and I want to be as certain as possible that it meets the needs,
from both functionality and usability viewpoints.

As to when it will go 1.0 -- not *until* there's enough feedback to
demonstrate that the solution is viable :-).
