problem with unicode

Hi,

I have a problem with display of characters in latin-1.

for example: The properties file contains the unicode \u0119, but the character 
is not displayed.

If I use &#x0119; it will be displayed. I use <bean:message key="my.text"/>

Has someone a solution?
