I dropped back to 1.2.0 and HP-UX is happy again. Never mind about not being able to open the .jar files with WinZip-- it works if I right click and 'open with' WinZip. Clicking directly is probably trying to "run" the .jar file. But I still have some mysterious problem on HP-UX that it can't read the tld out of the commons-validator.jar file that came with Struts 1.2.4, while it's happy with the one that came with Struts 1.2.0.
