This is a red herring - yes you're right about it being passed into the execute method - but since the reference isn't passed anywhere else after that in the RequestProcessor then it doesn't matter what you do
Perhaps, though, Niall, you might want to do something that is not strictly request related. Then this would not be a "red herring"?
