If the kafka cluster did nothing other than serve your storm cluster that might 
help a little bit, but it seems extreme.  I wouldn't personally try that 
without specific performance measurements indicating that was a real bottleneck.

Hello!

My use case is the to send 100 MB of raw data to Kafka, consuming from  
StormKafkaSpout.
I would like to ask you if co-locating the StormKafkaSpout(for consuming) or 
StormKafkaProducer(for producing) with the Kakfa partitions where the data 
resides is a good practice when designing a Storm-Kafka scenario?
