*Compatibility with Apache Hive* Spark SQL is designed to be compatible with the Hive Metastore, SerDes and UDFs. Currently Spark SQL is based on Hive 0.12.0 and 0.13.1. After testing many functions available in 1.1.0 and 1.2.0, I tend to think that this is no longer true... Could someone update the documentation or tell me what these versions refer to as it appears that Spark SQL 1.5.0 support everything in Hive 1.2.0...
