Yes, you are right, however,  most of us prefer using OM directly, now that the UI is fully understood by users.

Thank you so much, and let me tell you the scenario in real life, at
least how we use it:

The presenter, usually a teacher, gives his lecture and records it, then
move it to the class group (I do not know yet how to make that default).
no way to do it by default, recordings are personal
BUT if you access them from Moodle - all moodle admins should be able
to get all recordings made in Moodle plugin

Before I came to know that it can be renamed, the teacher downloads the
lecture and post it either on moodle (this is another story), or on our
cloud so that students can review it.

The issue was that teachers were lost in "Recording ....." recording
file name, and the lecture they gave, now, although only few used it,
teachers can rename the recording in OM and don't get confused, but
still they need to rename the file when posted outside OM.

If the name is the same (in OM and downloads):

1. Teachers and students can access OM and spare us the space in cloud
as they can download it locally.

2. No mistakes in renaming and saving and renaming and saving.

3. No student can claim that he could not see or find or locate the
lecture.

4. LA (learning auditors) can do their job much faster and much more
efficient.

5. Lecture names are consistent between OM, moodle and the cloud with no
errors in naming.

By doing this functionality, you have contributed greatly in making the
process much more solid, and much more beneficial to all users,
considering that almost all of them are from the extreme side of using
technology.

Again, thank you.

Not sure I like this idea, but implemented

simple:

1. double click on the recording.

2. rename it and press enter, and it is renamed correctly.

3. click on the download icon (lower right corner) and select MP4

4. download pop windows shows for location to save the file.

5 file name is set of letters, like the one saved on server, not the
name I just edited:
