Can't Stop OpenMeetings

Greetings:
I need to upgrade OM so the first thing I need to do is stop my OM instance.
However, "./admin.sh stop" (executed from the directory where it resides) does 
not stop the instance. It always responds that it has started the instance.
How do I get the instance to stop?
