Hi all,

Sharing another document in the series of documents about the Manufacturing
module of Apache OFBiz.

This document explains the concept of routing and routing tasks in Apache
OFBiz.

Routing plays a key role in defining the sequence of operations required to
manufacture a product. This guide helps users understand what routing is,
how routing tasks structure the production process, and how to configure
them in Apache OFBiz.

To make the concepts easier to follow, we’ve used the example of
manufacturing a skateboard. The guide walks through setting up routing and
routing tasks for both the finished product and its sub-assemblies using a
multi-level Bill of Materials (BOM).

It includes a clear, step-by-step walkthrough—making it easier to model
real-world production flows within the system.

While this document is especially helpful for current Apache OFBiz users,
it can also support manufacturers evaluating open-source MEPS solutions by
showcasing how Apache OFBiz handles production planning.
