I did some further digging in the code. Actually, Interwiki references are supported when using the "ref" attribute iso "page" with the <wiki:Link> tag. <wiki:Link ref='Portal:PageName'>Some description.</wiki:Link> This way you don't need the workaround with a jstl variable. Unfortunately we are lacking documentation for the LinkTag.
