Hi,

Thanks for Juan’s tip. After I added -Dfile.encoding=UTF8 as an option to my
GF3 via admin Console ‘Server-config > JVM Settings > JVM Options‘, the issue
has been resolved.

BTW, I have tried adding the property via web app specific glassfish-web.xml,
but there was no luck.

Also, I don’t know why the GF3 (glassfish-3.1.2.2-ml.zip) sets GBK as the
default file.encoding.

Anyway, a small step forward☺

Regards,
Xiaoming

Hi!
would you mind trying to start your GF instance with file.encoding=utf8 ? Not
sure about sun.jnu.encoding is used for, but may be worth to change it too if
the file.encoding change alone doesn't do anything

Hi Juan,

I have further checked my GF3 properties, and found following 4 encod* entries:

file.encoding.pkg: sun.io<http://sun.io>
file.encoding: GBK
sun.io.unicode.encoding: UnicodeLittle
sun.jnu.encoding: GBK

What values do you use (or supposed to use with JSPWiki) on your GF3?

Xiaoming

Hi Juan,

I have resent another email to
'[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>'
as you said.

For the issue, here is what shows by the …/Wiki.jsp?page=SystemInfo

JSPWiki Engine Version

2.10.2-svn-16

Character Encoding

UTF-8

Hi Xiaomin,
list subscribing requires you to send two e-mails, the second one confirming
your subscription. I've checked the subcribers of
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>, and you don't appear as subscribed,
so it seems to me you've only sent the first one? Your e-mails are arriving b/c
your e-mail account has been marked by a moderator as allowed to send e-mails
to the list.
As for the issue itself, I've tried JSPWiki on GF3 and have been able to use it
without problems. Do you configure something to set up the encoding (some
parameter on GF, the file.encoding env variable,..)? Could you try to go to
SystemInfo wiki page (i.e.:
https://jspwiki-wiki.apache.org/Wiki.jsp?page=SystemInfo for JSPWiki's JSPWiki)
and check what does the encoding value shows?

Hi All,

Thanks for your quick responses, which is a real good point to choose JSPWiki.

Hi Juan and Florian,

Following your instruction, I have checked out the source 2.10.2-SNAPSHOT from
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/jspwiki/trunk and built it with 'mvn clean
install -Dmaven.test.skip' (I skipped the tests because there is an error out
of the tests). I have tried it on both GF3 and GF4, and the gibberish issue
remains. If you need any further info for debugging, please let me know.

BTW, I haven't received any mails from the mailing list since I sent the
subscribing email yesterday. Was my subscribing successful, or is our firewall
blocking any such mailing list?

Regards,
Xiaoming
