You are getting the error because you are ORDERing BY rank but rank is not in the top SELECT
Also, DISTRIBUTE BY/SORT BY are done after SELECT so you have to use a subquery: SELECT ..., rank(user) FROM (SELECT ... DISTRIBUTE BY ...
