Of course if you want simple query I guess Cloudera's Beeswax is also a suitable ui. A search of the various fora and mailing lists did not show a definite answer, and there is an open Jira item (which I see you found :-) ) on this topic. In general what client-side BI/data mining/query tools are people using to allow a degree of user friendly querying of your Hive warehouses and display of the results? Especially from Windows client platforms. Do you roll your own, or use off the shelf/open source/commercial products? We're building a small cluster for some research and scaling experiments, Linux based of course. That all works fine, however I'm wondering how to plumb it into non-Linux client populations and I'd rather not set out to make new widgets myself if that's avoidable. Has someone have any experience with this bridge or another bridge? Has someone ever succeed with connecting ODBC to Hive with any other method? Is someone working on this task and needs help? I am willing to assist such a open-source project Thanks, Guy Doulberg
