Hi Otis, If you have any details regarding crashes we’d be most interested in collecting more information about what lead to the crash. Toad for Cloud forums http://toadforcloud.com/forumindex.jspa?categoryID=735 would be the best place to post any such information.
The credentials supplied when mapping a data source define the permissions allowed on that data source. While some of the NoSQL databases do not have a strong security model, this can be used to restrict users connected to ODBC data sources. There could still be a concern when mapping data sources in a data hub that is shared with other users. This type of user access will be addressed in an upcoming release of Toad for Cloud Databases. If you have any questions or feedback regarding Toad for Cloud that you would like to share please post on the forums at http://toadforcloud.com/forumindex.jspa?categoryID=735 Regards, Peter Hall Quest Software ________________________________ From: Otis Gospodnetic [otis_gospodne...@yahoo.com] Sent: Saturday, 26 February 2011 9:00 To: user@hive.apache.org Subject: Re: TOAD for hive Hi, I've had a quick look at Toad for Cloud the other day, too. * One complaint I heard (but have not verified) is that it crashed. I don't have the details. Anyone seen any crashes? * The other "complaint" I heard is that just like it allows easy querying, it allows the person using it easy data modification/deletion. This can be a problem when you have a bunch of people who need to run ad-hoc reports, but should absolutely not make any changes to data. Perhaps there is a way to make data mods/deletion impossible in Toad for Cloud?
