University Heights Community Center 5031 University Way NE Seattle WA 98105 Room #110 The meetings are informal and highly conversational. If you have questions about Hadoop and map reduce this is a great place to ask them. Sean Jensen-Grey se...@seattlehadoop.org Chris Wilkes cwil...@seattlehadoop.org Sean & Chris Seattle Hadoop Distributing Computing User Meeting ================================================== Bringing Hadoopists Together On the Nth Thursday of the Month We focus predominately on distributed data processing using a map reduce style. The meetings are open to all and free of charge. When: Thursday December 2nd, 7:00 pm room, 7:15 start - 8:45 Where: University Heights Community Center, Room 110 Outline for December 2nd: Apache Mahout: Chris will give an introduction to Apache Mahout ( http://mahout.apache.org/ ) , a machine learning library that runs on Hadoop. In it he'll demonstrate how you can use K-Means clustering to group rows of data together and show how this can be done with minimal java programming. The take away will be that you can start using this library soon without much investment. Yahoo S4: Sean will give an intro and overview of the computing model of S4 and how it relates to Dryad ( http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/projects/dryad/ ) and HOP ( http://code.google.com/p/hop/ ). To quote the s4 team "S4 is a general-purpose, distributed, scalable, partially fault-tolerant, pluggable platform that allows programmers to easily develop applications for processing continuous unbounded streams of data." http://s4.io/ https://github.com/s4 https://github.com/s4/core https://github.com/s4/examples Please sign up for the announce list @ seattlehadoop.org for late breaking meetings information and post meeting communication.
