This issue has come up several times before, and there's a ticket out
regarding that addresses it:

From this you can see:
(a) how to manually alter the current behaviour, should you wish
(b) that there's a will to implement a timeout that's easily
configurable, but with the current behaviour as the default. It's just
the 'easily configurable' part that's yet to be dealt with.
