Seems unlikely, but I guess it's a possiblity. Did you just try drain on
it's own?

Just running drain should be enough on later versions of 3. I think
anything after CASSANDRA-12509
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CASSANDRA-12509> is probably fine to
just be drain.
