Many thanks.
I had tried this command earlier too but I guess my syntax was wrong. This
time I just issued
nodetool rebuild dc1
and took the snapshot after this. I could see the *.db files created.

Earlier I was trying
nodetool rebuild -- dc1
which I guess was wrong.
