There is no documented support for embedded Cassandra. Sure, there is a CassandraDaemon class and a EmbeddedCassandraService class, but they are intended for testing, not for use of the product.
I have seen a couple of (old) references to people running embedded Cassandra (one in the official Wiki), but nothing in recent years. In short, maybe it might work, but be sure to inform your organization's management that it would not be supported. You'd be on your own.
