While it's not impossible that a question of this nature will be answered on this list, if I were you, I would probably either : 1) join #cassandra on freenode IRC and ask a dev there 2) file a JIRA ticket on http://issues.apache.org asking if this is the expected behavior, and if so for an explanation of why :) =Rob
