To make sure I had an all-encompassing date range, I tried this: UUID startId = new UUID(UUIDGen.createTime(0L), UUIDGen.getClockSeqAndNode()); UUID finishId = new UUID(UUIDGen.createTime(Long.MAX_VALUE), UUIDGen.getClockSeqAndNode());
