I have a problem using thrift on C as well. I'm using thrift 0.5 and if I try to add a row to a column family that doesn't exists the exception I get is Default TException very unspecific. Is that an issue of cassandra? Is there probably something wrong with my setup? I was hoping to get an "Column family not found" message or something in those lines.
