You can simply write you own java agent(this doesn't require chage of source code), you can simply begin from http://blogs.sun.com/jmxetc/entry/connecting_through_firewall_using_jmx, http://download.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/lang/instrument/package-summary.html, In agent you can start HTTP webserver with simple interface then write simple zabbix module to read info from that HTTP server, then write you own zabbix templates
