you can try with java.version property:

<project>
    <echo>$${java.version} is ${java.version}</echo>
    <echo>$${java.runtime.version} is
${java.runtime.version}</echo>
    <!-- Dumps all properties starting with "java" -->
    <echoproperties prefix="java"/>
</project>
