What resources do you have in mind?

I am the Deployment and Configuration Manager, and might be able to send you
some white papers, documents and other information about using ANT for build
and deployment.

Does he give any arguments on why he feels that xml should not be used for
doing builds?

I use it extensively, and my builds are automated...nightly, and on demand.

Usually, if one person is so negatively against something without good
arguments, it means they do not understand it, or may be protecting their
turf.

Ask him to list in detail his concerns, then add your pros and cons to it.

I went through this with a developer one time, and all I did was implement
it without their ok, then gave a demo, to his manager, him, the grp, and
added the VPs, Dirs, etc.

Subject: winning the case for ANT

Hi all,

I am working in a team of developers, where one developer is completely
against the use of ANT as a build script as he feels that xml should not be
used as a scripting tool. I would like to create an environment which does
automated nightly builds, deployments and execution of tests with reports.
This team members negativity is hampering commitment towards this goal.

I was hoping there would be somebody who could direct me to a resource(s)
that will strengthen my case for the use of ANT, as I see it as the perfect
tool to achieve this goal and am under the impression that it is the
industry standard for non-proprietary java build tools.

Regards,

Andreas
