Yes, that was one of the first things I tried, and I've not
seen any problems with that. I also tried a short program
that did:

It seems that I can run that pretty much indefinitely
without it blocking. Yes, it reduces the host entropy, but
not so much that I see values of
/proc/sys/kernel/random/entropy_avail below 1000.
