Hello all, I'm trying to get started with UML and running into a few problems. I can execute the kernel given on the website, but there's no corresponding filesystem so I tried Knoppix image which of course had issues because of module symbols. But the kernel loaded, and init ran, etc. Just not a usable system. So, after problems with a UML built from my distro's kernel source (RHEL4, 2.6.9), I fetched and built 2.6.28. I've been only able to boot into a defconfig build with con0=fd:0,fd:1 though. Other channels failed, and the preferred build fails to mount; correct host proc, static build, no debug symbols, default con as pty, and no sound/ipsec/wireless/ reiser/quota/autofs/crypto or hostfs.
Worse still, the host partition (ext3) I'm trying to use as the root gets (massively) corrupted every few mounts... Any thoughts?
