Hi all, I was looking for the Perl module mentioned in the book, UML::MConsole. Darn hard to find. I finally found one, with numbered lines, in a Google cache.
Now that I see the source, I found that there's not much to it, really. It's easy to incorporate that functionality. I guess the mconsole driver would have to be modified in order to accept messages from the host, other than the predefined messages (eg. reset, stop, go, etc...). And in the end it'd be easier to simply ssh to the UMLs instead of having a fancier way of sending messages to it in which case a daemon inside the UMLS would pickup the msgs received by the mconsole driver and do stuff. By doign a ssh instead there's no daemon running so no obvious hint that there's a listener to events coming from outside of the system. Yeah, I guess it's not much worth to modify the mconsole driver to receive arbitrary msgs from the host (with some form of security) and relay them to a daemon running inside the UML. My thoughts.
