Hello, I play with uml for some time and I went to some troubles starting the 2.6.24 and .25 kernels on themselves. With 2.6.23 host kernel, they worked. I found out that some of huge changes in the linus tree went a bit wrong or too different during that including xen, SKAS3 and uml itself. I was not succesfull running any of those two lines.
I tryed 2.6.26-rc7 for both host and guest, I worked fine, also rc8 did. Right now I compiled from the same .configs 2.6.26 and again, it falls down, what changed is, that it is the uml version on which the success depends, not version of host. .configs are long, so i uploaded them to http://uml-sys.sf.net/.config-host and .config-guest Thanks for any info or suggestions David uml kernel messages: Locating the bottom of the address space ... 0x0 Locating the top of the address space ... 0xc0000000 Core dump limits : soft - NONE hard - NONE Checking that ptrace can change system call numbers...OK Checking syscall emulation patch for ptrace...OK Checking advanced syscall emulation patch for ptrace...OK Checking for tmpfs mount on /dev/shm...OK Checking PROT_EXEC mmap in /dev/shm/...OK Checking for the skas3 patch in the host: - /proc/mm...not found: No such file or directory - PTRACE_FAULTINFO...not found - PTRACE_LDT...not found UML running in SKAS0 mode Adding 10309632 bytes to physical memory to account for exec-shield gap Linux version 2.6.26 ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) (gcc version 4.1.2 20061115 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.1-21)) #1 Tue Jul 15 00:02:41 CEST 2008 Built 1 zonelists in Zone order, mobility grouping on.
