Hi Jeff and all;

I am new to UML. I came across a similar problem reported by Klaus Teller's
email dated 2008-05-23.

I had changed the permission to 777 my host /dev/net/tun file. It did
not help.

Another glue I came up with, ifconfig eth0 on my UML system displaying
the same
error message, SIOCSIFFLAGS: Operation not permitted.

I am suspecting the the problem has to do with the default filesystem of
the UML
image (built with ARCH=UM -> hostfs is used), as described in one of the
wiki
page, user cannot use host fs for open TCP socket. Is it the same
limitation?

I could not find a workaround for this problem on the site. Thank you.

Regards,
Kiet
