Hello,
I suppose so, I built the linux-2.6.25.1 with ARCH=um and put
the whole tree in /usr/src/linux-2.6.25.1 of my root_fs and
the modules in /lib/modules/2.6.25.1.
Then I try to compile inside my working uml machine.

Note: you can download my linux and root_fs at clownix.net
      the plug-and-play network works very well!
